We haven’t had power since Sunday.

There’s no way to heat our homes. Imagine being in single digit temps with no fireplace, eclectic heater, or even insulated walls. Some folks don’t even have coats. Why is no one helping us?? People are dying of hypothermia and starvation. We’re running out of water and all our food has gone bad. Their only solution is the warming stations but you have to drive in deadly conditions to get there. Where’s the national guard? They never take long when it comes to suppressing Black and Brown “rioters”. I’ve never seen roads this bad. I have an SUV with AWD and I’ve gotten stuck or slid every time I’ve gone out. Luckily, we’re in a hotel on the hospital power grid, but I’m the only one with power out of everyone else I know (friends and coworkers included). All restaurants and stores were closed until yesterday, so I had to walk to my apartment to get food bc my car couldn’t make it up the hills. I managed to carry my instapot and remaining food in a suitcase back down the hills. We were able to cook on our floor but I have no idea how others are surviving this. A lot of them aren’t. They aren’t rolling outages. We’ve been out of power for 90+ hours straight. Pipes are bursting, generators and transformers are exploding, homes are on fire, and people are dying of carbon monoxide poisoning. All of this could’ve been avoided but again they choose money over millions of people. This is not a joke. This is not a time to roast TX for complaining about snow. The humidity causes black ice every where you go. Call it what it is: a natural disaster and government failure. This is why we vote.
